VENTISQUEROS OPENS ITS OPERATIONS TO SERNAPESCA AND THE FDA

Ventisqueros opens its operations to Sernapesca and the FDA during key visit for the industry.

  •  The event provided an opportunity to demonstrate the company’s production, health and traceability standards in the field, thereby reinforcing transparency and regulatory compliance within the Chilean salmon industry.
  • “These visits provide an opportunity to open up our operations, demonstrate how we work and build trust through processes that meet high international standards,” said Agustín Waidele, Corporate Affairs Manager at Ventisqueros

On 24 March, Ventisqueros welcomed a delegation comprising representatives from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) on a visit to its processing plant, with the aim of gaining first-hand insight into the operational, health and quality control protocols implemented by the company.

The delegation comprised Michelle Rodríguez, Rita Vera, Gonzalo Ibáñez and Christofer Waldrop from the FDA; Héctor Escobar, Patricio González and Carolina Castillo representing Sernapesca; and Marcela Lara from the Salmon Council. Representing Ventisqueros were Agustín Waidele, alongside Carolina Muñoz, deputy quality manager, and Raúl Gárnica, deputy process manager.

During the event, a tour of the processing plant was organised, during which attendees were able to see first-hand the various stages of production, as well as the quality assurance, traceability and hygiene control systems that form part of day-to-day operations. This was followed by a corporate presentation outlining the company’s key policies on sustainability, innovation and regulatory compliance.

In this context, Agustín Waidele, Corporate Affairs Manager at Ventisqueros, said that events of this kind “provide an opportunity to open up our operations, demonstrate how we work and build trust through processes that meet high international standards”.

“For us, it is essential that authorities and international organisations see firsthand how we operate, because that is where the rigour of our processes and the standard we work with in quality and safety are validated. This type of instance not only strengthens trust in our company, but also helps raise the standard of the entire industry,” said Raúl Gárnica, process assistant manager at Ventisqueros.

This type of visit allows for reinforcing collaboration between public and private actors, as well as projecting the standards of Chilean salmon farming in increasingly demanding international markets. In this regard, the openness of operations and transparency are consolidated as key elements for the sustainable development of the sector.

The day concluded with a space for dialogue among participants, reaffirming the importance of advancing in responsible aquaculture, aligned with the demands of global markets and with high production standards.
