AQUABYTE JOINS SEAFOOD ADVOCACY

Aquabyte joins seafood advocacy group. Stronger America Through Seafood (SATS) continues to expand its membership, with the advocacy group adding technology company, Aquabyte as its newest member.

Aquabyte, a Silicon Valley-based technology company that currently operates in Norway and Chile, develops a software platform with cutting edge technology that applies machine learning and computer vision to aquaculture to help grow healthier and more sustainable fish. The company’s technology helps fish farmers to be more efficient by understanding fish health, growth, and feeding, while maintaining a sustainable environment for raising fish.

Bill DiMento, President of SATS and Vice President of Corporate Sustainability and Government Affairs at High Liner Foods, said:

“We are excited to welcome Aquabyte to SATS. As a new member of SATS, Aquabyte, a trusted technology-first company, will provide a unique perspective on the use of technology to improve and accelerate sustainable growth of the aquaculture industry. We look forward to working with Aquabyte as SATS continues to advance our mission of establishing a regulated aquaculture industry here in the U.S.”

Bryton Shang, Founder and CEO of Aquabyte, said:

“Aquabyte is proud to join SATS to help promote the development of American aquaculture. The U.S., which leads the way in science and technology, has the potential to lead aquaculture policy and practices around the world. Through utilising the latest technology and innovations, the aquaculture industry can continue to grow in a way that is environmentally sustainable, protecting our oceans and natural resources, while creating more jobs and economic opportunity here in the U.S. We need the proper federal policies and regulations in place to allow that to happen.”

Aquabyte, with its team of machine learning experts, entrepreneurs, and aquaculture biologists, takes a holistic approach to modern farming with its monitoring products. Its industry leading sea lice recognition and counting enables pre-emptive decision making; its biomass estimation and distribution allows accurate projections; its accurate appetite detection improves rates of feed conversion while reducing waste, and its feed optimization process includes feed amounts calculated and based on fish size and activity.

Stronger America Through Seafood (SATS) advocates for policies and regulations that help secure a stronger America through increased U.S. production of healthful, sustainable, and affordable seafood. Learn more at www.strongerthroughseafood.org.
