DANISH STRENGTHS MATCH ICEFISH FOCUS ON SUSTAINABLE GROWTH

Danish strengths match IceFish focus on sustainable growth. 18 Danish companies are heading to Icelandic Fisheries & Aquaculture (IceFish) 2026, where sustainable growth, green transition and circularity are high on the agenda. Exhibiting together at the Pavilion of Denmark, the companies bring solutions from across the fisheries and aquaculture value chain – and key Danish strengths that align well with key themes at the exhibition.

Danish Export – Fish Tech is heading to Iceland together with 18 Danish companies to exhibit at the Pavilion of Denmark at Icelandic Fisheries & Aquaculture 2026 that takes place in Kópavogur on Septemver 22-24.

“We have been part of this exhibition for years, and we keep returning because Iceland is an important market for Danish companies. Here, they can present their products and solutions and meet customers and business partners,” says Martin Koefoed Lilleoere, Head of Fish Tech at Danish Export, who organizes the Pavilion of Denmark.

The Danish exhibitors cover many parts of the value chain to fisheries and aquaculture, and their key strengths align closely with this years’ IceFish themes of sustainable growth, green transition and circularity.

New to IceFish – but not to the industry

For several of the exhibitors at the Pavilion of Denmark, this will be their first time at Icelandic Fisheries & Aquaculture. One of the newcomers to IceFish – but certainly not to Iceland or the industry – is Landia. The Danish company has supplied equipment to the Icelandic market for many years and has extensive experience within the fish and aquaculture industries.

At IceFish, Landia will showcase its newly upgraded fish silage system. The solution processes dead fish and fish by-products into stable silage in a controlled and hygienic process, supporting high standards of biosecurity and reducing the risk associated with handling and storing fish mortalities. Depending on local regulations and the quality of the raw material, the resulting silage can subsequently be utilized for purposes such as fertilizer, pet food ingredients, or further processing for recovery of proteins and fish oil.

Landia has a strong presence in Norway, where fish farmers are required by law to have equipment for processing dead fish into silage. The company sees IceFish as an opportunity to further strengthen its position in Iceland as well as in other important international aquaculture and fisheries markets.

“Iceland is an interesting market, and I expect it to grow in importance for us. With IceFish also being a very international exhibition, we hope to meet potential business partners from markets such as Canada and the US,” says Thorkild Maagaard, CCO at Landia.

Turning waste into value

Already well-established in Iceland through a local partner, RUNI is also a first-time exhibitor at IceFish. Exhibiting together with Pure North Recycling, owned by Sigurður Halldórsson, RUNI’s distributor in Iceland, the company will showcase its compactor for expanded polystyrene (EPS), widely used for fish boxes in the seafood industry.

By compacting used EPS fish boxes, the material takes up significantly less space and can be transported for recycling more efficiently. With RUNI’s solution, the volume can be reduced by up to 50 times. This not only makes transportation more cost-efficient but also enables used packaging to be turned into a valuable resource.

“We are seeing growing demand for solutions that turn waste into resources. It makes sense from both an environmental and an economic perspective. Our goal for IceFish is to establish new business relationships with some of the key stakeholders in the industry,” says Jens Kristian Kristensen, Area Sales Manager at RUNI.
