DROP LAST MONTH IN ICELANDIC FISH CATCH
Drop last month in Icelandic fish catch. The total catch of Icelandic vessels was 108 thousand tonnes in May 2021 which is 14% less than in May 2020. Demersal catch was 42 thousand tonnes of which 25 thousand tonnes were cod. The pelagic catch in May was mostly blue whiting, 58 thousand tonnes.
In the 12 month period from June 2020 to May 2021 the total catch was just under 1.1 billion tonnes which is a 12% increase from the previous 12 month period. Pelagic catch was 574 thousand tonnes and demersal catch was 483 thousand tonnes.
In fixed prices the catch in May 2021 was 0.3% more than in May 2020.
