GAPP SEEKS PROPOSALS FOR MARKET ASSESSMENT RESEARCH IN INDIA

GAPP Seeks Proposals for Market Assessment Research in India

The Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) issued today a Request for Proposals (RFP) to study the potential market for Wild Alaska Pollock surimi in India. This research, funded in part by a grant GAPP received from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service’s Emerging Markets Program, will seek to identify both barriers and opportunities for the consumption of surimi seafood made from Wild Alaska Pollock.

To assist in meeting this need, GAPP is seeking proposals form market research companies with experience in the food and seafood market in India to conduct research that will help understand the current surimi/surimi seafood market in India and the actual and perceived barriers to consumption. The research will also identify opportunities to promote Wild Alaska Pollock surimi in India through messaging that would be meaningful to consumers in India, including the quality, healthfulness and sustainability of Wild Alaska Pollock.

“India has long been an intriguing market for Wild Alaska Pollock, but the lack of an established presence in the marketplace and concerns over cold chain logistics have thus far limited exports of Wild Alaska Pollock products that are consumed within the country,” said GAPP CEO Craig Morris. “We very much appreciate the USDA’s support to help us execute this market research and obtain on the ground intelligence that can help GAPP chart a path for increased exports of Alaska Pollock to India.”

Detailed information on the RFP’s specifications can be found here. Proposals should be submitted to Ron Rogness at ron.rogness@alaskapollock.org no later than Monday, March 23, 2026.
