ICELANDIC JUNE CATCH DROPS COMPARED WITH SAME MONTH IN 2023
Icelandic June catch drops compared with same month in 2023. A zero capelin catch in Icelandic waters in June this year has resulted in a significant decrease in like-for-like overall fish landings compared with the same month in 2023.
Overall, Icelandic vessels landed 28 thousand tonnes in June, 21% less than in June 2023. Decreased catch was in most demersal species and there was no pelagic catch..
In the 12 month period from July 2023 to June 2024 the catch was just under 1.1 million tonnes which is a 24% decrease from the previous 12 month period. This was mainly due to no capelin catch.
The June cod catch was 13,301 tonnes compared with 15,275 tonnes in June 2023, while haddock was 4,480 tonnes compared to 3897 tonnes in June 2023. ICELANDIC JUNE CATCH DROPS
