INCREASE IN PELAGIC CATCH IN RUSSIAN FAR EAST

Increase in pelagic catch in Russian Far East – According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Center for Fisheries Monitoring System and Communication”, as of July 19, 2020, the total catch of Iwasi sardine and mackerel by Russian users totalled 55.54 thousand tons. This is 38.94 thousand tons higher than the level of 2019 (334.6% of the level of 2019).
In the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Russia, the catch amounted to 39.74 thousand tons, which is 24.66 thousand tons higher than the level of 2019 (263.53% of the level of 2019), including 2.66 thousand tons.
The main share of the catch for the current period is Iwashi sardine – 42.02 thousand tons (27.24 thousand tons more than in 2019), the catch of mackerel is 13.51 thousand tons (12.5 thousand tons more than in 2019) … The saury catch is insignificant.
During the week from 13 to 19 July 2020, 15 fishing vessels of the Russian fishing fleet were fishing for pelagic fish species, of which 14 were in the Russian EEZ, and one was in the open sea.
