INSIDE THE FACTORY

Inside the factory, Belgium style – Marketing Initiative Finalists trip to Belgium. Finalists of the National Fish and Chip Awards’ Marketing Initiative Award were invited by the proud sponsors, Agristo to visit their factory in Belgium on a study trip. Agristo is a leading family owned manufacturer of high quality potato products.

Anne and Robert from Taylors in Stockport, Gavin from The Scrap Box in York and Amine from Stones in London set off early on Monday morning with Josette from the award’s team on a very special adventure. On arrival, they were met by the inspirational sales and marketing team at a local Begium fry house ‘ Bellegems Friethuiseje’. Here the finalists got to experience a wide range of authentic snacks and of course chips.

In the afternoon an in-depth personalised tour of Agristo’s state of the art facilities was enjoyed by all finalists. Lead by a ‘potatoholic’ production team member, the visitors had a great insight into the whole production process from potatoes entering the factory to finally chips being packed for worldwide distribution.

The finalists learnt about the values of the family and their expansion plans with factories in Belgium, the Netherlands, India and American.

The tour ended sampling Belgium beers and their traditional chip shop brand ‘Aye Aye’ developed to provide all year-round quality and consistency.

The evening was spent in the beautiful city of Ghent bursting with spectacular architecture. Accommodation was at the luxurious NH hotel in the centre of the city with a finalist meal at  the outstanding Yalo  restaurant. This was a great opportunity for finalists to get to know each other more and to share ideas.
