International forum on climate change effects on fisheries

The ClimeFish project together with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is organising the 2020 International Forum on the Effects of Climate Change on Fisheries and Aquaculture. The event will be held on the 25 and 26 February 2020 in Rome.

The objective of this event is to showcase tools, the latest scientific outputs and lessons learnt on providing climate change adaptation strategies to policy makers, industry representatives and scientists. The organisers wish to build a network among these groups by fostering interaction and dialogue.

A statement from the organisers says: “Oceans and lakes are heavily affected by climate change, and we are only beginning to understand the magnitude of these changes. Increased temperature and extreme weather conditions, such as heat waves, will bring shifts in the distribution of fish stocks and have adverse effects on aquaculture production. We need to adapt.

“More information and practical details regarding the event will follow in due course.”
