SCOTTISH FISHERIES MUSEUM WELCOMES BACK VISITORS

SCOTTISH FISHERIES MUSEUM WELCOMES BACK

Scottish Fisheries Museum welcomes back visitors. “Our Staff are back in the museum getting things ready and safe for you to visit.”

The Scottish Fisheries Museum will reopen on the 26th of August.

The story we tell of the Scottish fishing industry is one of innovation and adaptability, from the vastness of the open sea to the security of community life.  We are excited to be able to invite visitors once again to immerse themselves in this remarkable tale and enjoy exploring our extensive site.

And we are pleased to reassure visitors that we’re Good to Go!  We have introduced some new measures in line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable visit. These include enhanced cleaning, protective screens, hand sanitising stations and one-way routes in the museum galleries.

Timed entry through our new online booking system will ensure that we can manage numbers and maintain physical distancing keeping visitors and staff safe.   Small groups of up to six people from one household will be able to visit the museum together and must book their visit in advance.

The museum shop and tearoom will reopen on the same day (the tearoom is currently serving takeaway only).  Our toilets will be open for museum and tearoom visitors.  The museum has increased the frequency and expanded the cleaning regime in these facilities each day.  All visitors will be required to wear a face covering whilst in the buildings, at all times, unless seated in our tearoom.

For full guidance, visit the Scottish Fisheries Museum website or check out the Scottish Fisheries Museum page on Facebook which will be regularly updated with the latest news to keep you informed.

The museum staff are “excited to open” with our new measures in place and “look forward to seeing visitors”.

Director of Operations, Ian Goodyear is…

“Delighted to be able to welcome visitors back into the museum with safety at the forefront of our operations. We are now good to go and hopeful for the future.”
