SEAFOOD EXPO NORTH AMERICA ORGANISER TAKING CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS

Seafood Expo North America organiser taking Coronavirus precautions. Diversified Communications, the organiser of Seafood Expo North America in Boston (March 15 to 17) along with the Massachusetts Convention Centre Authority (MCCA) and official partners has issued the following advice in the wake of the current Coronavirus outbreak.
The guidance states: “Providing a safe environment where our exhibitors and buyers can meet and conduct business is of the utmost importance to us.
“The below measures are being implemented:

- Coordination between the MCCA Public Safety Department at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) and the city, state and federal 1st responders for “real time” intelligence and response protocol related to COVID-19
- Medically trained public safety staff as well as Boston Emergency Medical Services (Boston EMS) onsite during the event ready to implement the most effective protocols in accordance with the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO)
- Increase hand washing and hygiene signage throughout the BCEC
- The Authority and Expo management will position hand sanitizer stations and disinfectant wipes in key high-traffic areas throughout the Boston Convention & Exhibition Centre. Additionally, the Expo is taking health and safety measures including but not limited to both cleaning and thoroughly disinfecting common areas and surfaces during the day, including: registration counters, floors, escalator and staircase hand rails, elevators, doors, bathrooms, shuttle buses, information stands, demonstration theatre, conference areas and catering points throughout the event etc.
- Disinfect speaker AV equipment and stage sets in between conference sessions
- Encourage exhibitors to frequently clean and disinfect high traffic areas of their booth
- Encourage badge pick up at the satellite registration at the Boston Marriott Copley Place to alleviate the registration lines
- Encourage all participants to contact the BCEC Public Safety Department at 617-954-2222 with any medical or security-related questions or concerns while onsite
The following common-sense hygiene precautions are also recommended to all staff, exhibitors and attendees:
- Stay away from the event when ill
- Persons who feel unwell (i.e. fever, cough, and requiring admission to hospital) should stay at home
- Wash hands frequently using soap and water for 20 seconds
- Frequent use of hand sanitizer
- No-contact, no-handshake policy
- Avoid close contact with sick individuals
- Maintain distance if you are coughing or sneezing and wash hands frequently
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or use a tissue and discard in the trash immediately
