The Scottish Salmon Company support Back Football and Recreation Club
The Scottish Salmon Company support Back Football and Recreation Club on the Isle of Lewis with a new ticket booth, following its latest round of Community Fund awards.
Home to local football team Back FC, as well several junior teams, the Club was nominated by SSC Head of Planning Iain Macdonald to receive the much-needed funds to build a shelter for volunteers who man the gates during matches.
A small locally run organisation, the Back Football and Recreation Club provides a range of facilities and activities which encourage members of the community to be both physically and mentally active, including a golf driving range, gym, indoor sports arena, and a wide range of clubs and classes.
Established in 2017 as part of SSC’s Community Charter, the Community Fund encourages SSC staff to be champions in their area by nominating local groups, charities and organisations that support health and wellbeing for a funding grant of up to £250.
Craig Anderson, Chief Executive of The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “We are proud to support local groups like the Back Football and Recreation Club that give so much benefit to the areas where our staff live and work.
“The Back Football and Recreation Club provides a valuable hub for the local community, not least as home to Back FC. Their volunteers do outstanding work, so we are happy to provide them with funding to purchase a new ticket booth to shelter them from the unpredictable Isle of Lewis weather.”
Terri Davies, Sport and Community Project Coordinator of Back Football and Recreation Club said: “Our volunteers work tirelessly to enable others to enjoy watching football, carrying out their duties whatever the weather.
“This donation from The Scottish Salmon Company has enabled us to provide a warm place for our volunteers to work, which will make a huge difference to our very hard working and committed team.”
