TOP CHIP SHOPS ANNOUNCED FOR QUALITY ACCREDITATION CHAMPION AWARD
Top chip shops announced for Quality Accreditation Champion award. The National Fish & Chip Awards, one of the most highly anticipated events in the fish and chip industry, is proud to announce the finalists in the Quality Accreditation Champion category.
The award is open to all fish and chip businesses that are Quality Accreditation holders – achieved by completing the National Federation of Fish Friers’ (NFFF) Fish & Chip Quality Accreditation Scheme that runs in partnership with Sarson’s, the UK’s No.1 vinegar*. It celebrates chippies that have exemplified excellence and improvement through the initiative.
The Quality Accreditation Scheme is designed to recognise and reward fish and chip eateries that maintain high standards and continuously seek to enhance their operations. Those that participate are assessed against numerous quality barometers including whether their food is off the scale for tastiness.
Successful businesses are then given a ‘Big Q’ Quality Accreditation sign to display so that customers have the assurance that their fish and chips are first-class, and it’s made in a clean, safe and hygienic space.
The trio of finalists for the category have demonstrated exceptional use of the Quality Accreditation Scheme, showcasing how it has played a pivotal role in improving their business practices and achieving outstanding results. They will now be invited to the awards ceremony on 26 February at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge where the successor to 2024 winner French’s Fish Shop in Norfolk will be announced.
The businesses wondering if this ‘cod’ be the moment for them to be the new champion are:
Kent
Newington Fish Bar, Ramsgate
Oxfordshire
Harrison’s Fish and Chip Co, Botley
Yorkshire
Scrap Box, York
Andrew Crook is president of the National Federation of Fish Friers, and organiser of the awards, he comments:
“Whenever a business comes to us to take part in the Quality Accreditation Scheme it’s an encouraging sign that the sector is engaged and the desire to improve is clear.
“The Quality Accreditation Champion Award is crucial to the industry as the collective effort to cement the sector’s standpoint on high standards means we need to keep pushing for better. The category puts a spotlight on the condition of a business at every touchpoint from product sourcing, environmental awareness and sustainability to workplace reputability and stand-out foodservice. It makes us so proud of the applicants that they are striving to reach the highest levels of excellence and that we get to play a part in guiding them on their journey is a great privilege.”
Sarson’s, the quality vinegar for chips, and its parent company Mizkan, global producer of chutneys, relishes, pickled vegetables and vinegars, are joint sponsors of the award. Anant Mathur, channel controller at Mizkan, says:
“At Sarson’s, we share the uncompromising importance you place on quality of flavours for your customers. As a craft-brewed vinegar maker, we are proud to sponsor the NFFF Quality Accreditation Champion Award this year. For fish and chip shops who value quality, Sarson’s is the only vinegar for you.”
