IRAN EXCEEDS SEAFOOD PRODUCTION TARGETS

IRAN EXCEEDS SEAFOOD PRODUCTION

Iran exceeds seafood production targets. Over the past calendar year (it ended in the Iranian republic on March 20), Iran’s fishermen and fish farmers produced a total of 1.28 million tons, more than planned.

The results of the industry were announced by the head of the Iranian Fisheries Organization (IFO) Nabiolla Hawn-Mirzai. The plans for the past year were the production of 1.25 million tons of products, The Tehran Times notes.

Nabiola Hawn-Mirzai said that they succeeded in overfulfilling the plan thanks to the help of research organizations and the private sector of the economy. The head of the organization noted the high quality of Iranian fish products and its relevance abroad. In particular, Nabiola Hawn-Mirzai drew attention to the success in exporting to the markets of the EAEU , China and South Korea, a Fishnews correspondent reports.

According to the deputy head of the IFO, Hossein Ali Abdolhai, now 12 species of aquatic biological resources are grown in Iran, and in a year it is planned to expand this list to 17 species. Managing Director of Iran’s Agricultural Parks Company (APC) Ali Ashraf Mansouri recently announced plans to open 1.5 thousand ha of fishery parks this year.
