Wales Seafood Cluster visit Grimsby Fish Merchants and Traders

A group of Wales based seafood processors and traders visited their counterparts in Grimsby to explore ‘internal seafood trade’ opportunities. Led by Chris Parker, Wales Seafood Cluster Manager for Food & Drink Wales.

Businesses spent time at Grimsby Fish Market and visiting members of the Grimsby Fish Merchant Association including Alfred Enderby Traditional Fish Smoker who’s owners, Toni and Patrick Salmon, hosted the group for breakfast of traditional smoked salmon and Geographical Indicator, smoked Grimsby haddock.

Chris Parker commented “It was great for the Welsh Seafood businesses to visit and network with the wider UK Seafood industry, a very worthwhile opportunity which we hope to repeat in the future”

Representing the Grimsby Fish Merchants Association, Simon Dwyer, remarked “Internal UK seafood trade is under estimated if not, goes unnoticed. Grimsby receives seafood daily from Scotland and South West UK as well as abroad.

We also dispatch our seafood products such as the Traditional Smoked Fish, all over the UK to wholesalers and food service businesses.”
