WILL’S PLAICE MARKS 20 YEARS IN EAST RUNTON WITH £1 CHIPS CELEBRATION

WILL’S PLAICE MARKS 20 YEARS IN EAST RUNTON2

Will’s Plaice marks 20 years in East Runton with £1 chips celebration. Fancy a portion of chips at 2006 prices? Get over to Will’s Plaice at East Runton on Wednesday 6th May for the celebrations of 20 years of frying. Yes, it will be 20 years since Will took over the fish and chip shop in the village. Chips will be £1 for a regular portion and £2 for a large portion. Not only that, there will be live music from 1pm, and Harry’s Bar next door will be open, so you can enjoy a drink with your food while listening to the music. Join us to celebrate two decades worth of adding to the rich history of what was once a small fishing village on the North Norfolk coast.

WILL’S PLAICE MARKS 20 YEARS IN EAST RUNTONFor generations, this small fish and chip shop has been part of the fabric of the village, serving both the local residents and seasonal holiday makers. Will (formerly a chef) took on the shop in May 2006 and after a few years changed the name to Will’s Plaice.

Over the two decades, as with all small businesses, there have been hurdles to overcome, including a fire, huge price hikes in fish, potatoes, electricity, gas, wages, insurances. Cod alone has increased 100% in the last 12 months.

“As of last year, I now have a new landlord, Mr Carl Stairs who has really invested in East Runton. This has transitioned the village into a ‘destination’ place, rather than a mainly ‘passing through’ place. The fish and chip shop will be refurbished to a modern design and I have security in a 15 years lease, which is peace of mind for my family and me.”

“I’m very lucky to have wonderful customers both local people and regular holiday makers and after 20 years, I’m seeing the next generation so the customers have been busy too.”

“Over the years I’ve had wonderful staff and I’d like to thank them all. We work well as a team and last year Danny Copsey came on board full time, having been with me part time before.”I’d also like to say a big thank you to my landlord and most of all to my wife Maggie.”
