BAKKAFROST SCOTLAND CONTINUES SUPPORT FOR THE UNIQUE LOCHCARRON HIGHLAND GAMES

BAKKAFROST SCOTLAND CONTINUES SUPPORT

Bakkafrost Scotland continues support for the unique Lochcarron Highland Games. Leading Scottish salmon producer Bakkafrost Scotland is to continue its relationship with the Lochcarron Highland Games for the fifth consecutive year, when this year’s event is staged at Attadale Gardens on Saturday 15 July.

Now in its 43nd year, the ‘Friendly Games’ brings locals and visitors together to be a part of history and celebrate the unique traditions of the Scottish Highlands.

People from all over the world will come together to enjoy the traditional mixture of heavy events such as throwing the hammer and tossing the caber along with track and field plus highland dancing and piping displays. There will also be a mix of market stalls and food to browse and enjoy on the day.

The Lochcarron Highland Games is an entirely community–driven initiative, both in respect of the team and volunteers who create it, and the local organisations that it supports.

Through the sponsorship of the games they have been able to support local community groups including The Lochcarron Camannachd (shinty), Lochcarron Sailing Club, Lochcarron Coastal Rowing Club, Lochcarron Primary School, Kishorn Playpark, The Lochcarron Growing Group, The Golf Club, Lochcarron Playgroup, The Howard Doris Centre and many more.

This year the games has also supported the village hall in their ‘Raise the (new) Roof’ campaign.

Joanna Macpherson, chair of Lochcarron Highland Games, said:

“In the last 17 years alone, we have donated in excess of £52,000 to our local area. It is a fantastic cultural experience for our visitors, a key sales opportunity for small local businesses and an important social event for local families and at the heart of it, the preservation of long-standing Scottish traditions.

“The Lochcarron Highland Games is an incredible event, one we’re so proud to hold and so grateful to our sponsors, without whom the Games simply would not be possible.

“The involvement of Bakkafrost Scotland allows us to focus on delivering an extraordinary day of entertainment whilst maintaining our crucial support to our village and community.”

Ian Laister, managing director Bakkafrost Scotland added:

“Lochcarron Highland Games represent a celebration of Scottish culture and is always a special event for us to sponsor and we are committed to supporting our communities in which we live and work.

“Good luck to those competing on the day and thank you to the team of volunteers working hard to put on another successful event for not only the local community, but visitors from across the globe.”
