BLUE OPEN HOUSE 2026 AT ICELAND OCEAN CLUSTER

Blue Open House 2026 at Iceland Ocean Cluster. Last Thursday, as part of Iceland Innovation Week, the Iceland Ocean Cluster hosted two incredible gatherings that reflected exactly what their community is all about: connection, collaboration and the immense potential of the blue economy.

They began with The Blue Table, an intimate ocean-themed lunch hosted in one of their event spaces, bringing together innovators, investors, thought leaders and industry representatives around a shared table and a shared conviction — that unlocking the opportunities within the blue economy requires breaking down silos and creating space for meaningful dialogue.

The conversation was exactly what was hoped for. People who do not always find themselves in the same room were listening, exchanging ideas and building new connections. Investment in the blue economy emerged as both an opportunity and a necessity, and the atmosphere reflected a strong sense of urgency, optimism and possibility.

A special thank you to Matorka for generously providing the main course, showcasing their exceptional land-based Arctic char, and to Aurora Abalone for beautifully decorating the table with shells that brought the ocean spirit into the room. Iceland Ocean Cluster are also deeply grateful to our sponsors Íslandsbanki and JBT Marel for making The Blue Table possible.

Then, on April 30th, Iceland Ocean Cluster opened the doors of their House for their Blue Open House, welcoming guests to explore, connect and engage with their community in one of their favourite formats: open, informal and full of energy.

A huge thank you goes to our student helpers Clara Klinkenberg, Meem Mustasim Mahdi and Nicole Llagas Aldecoa, who stepped in and helped the day run seamlessly. Having them in the building and actively engaging with the community was a genuine highlight.

And finally, a very special thank you to Louann Gréaud, Iceland Ocean Cluster’s incredible intern and one of the driving forces behind this year’s Blue Open House. Iceland Ocean Cluster could not be more proud to have had her with them.

Thank you to everyone who came, contributed, supported and showed up throughout the week. What a week it was.
