ICEFISH TO CONTINUE THE DEBATE ON THE AQUACULTURE BILL

Visitors to IceFish 2026 can explore the developments shaping fisheries, seafood processing and aquaculture through specialist conferences, live demonstrations, a new Knowledge Box feature and pre-arranged B2B meetings.

IceFish 2026 will take place from 22–24 September at Smárinn Halls in Kópavogur, Iceland, bringing together the international fisheries, seafood processing and aquaculture communities for three days of business, innovation and practical industry insight.

Alongside the IceFish Exhibition, the 2026 programme will include specialist conferences, product demonstrations, networking opportunities and the IceFish B2B Matchmaking Event. New for 2026, the Knowledge Box will provide a dedicated space on the exhibition floor for visitors to hear directly from suppliers, innovators and industry experts.

The Knowledge Box will host multiple short presentations, technical talks and product demonstrations each day, covering equipment, technologies, services and ideas relevant to the fisheries, seafood processing and aquaculture sectors. Designed in a silent-conference format, attendees can use headphones to tune into the sessions that interest them while remaining at the heart of the exhibition. No pre-booking is required, allowing visitors to drop in throughout the day, discover new solutions and build their own programme around the live schedule.

Visitors can also take part in the IceFish B2B Matchmaking Event, hosted by Enterprise Europe Network on 22–23 September. The free initiative enables attendees to arrange focused 20-minute meetings with international companies, buyers, suppliers, technology providers, researchers and industry professionals before arriving at the event.

Designed to help participants make purposeful connections, the B2B programme provides a straightforward route to identify prospective partners, discuss specific requirements and explore new commercial, technology and research opportunities.

Across the exhibition floor, visitors will be able to meet suppliers and innovators serving the global fisheries, seafood processing and aquaculture industries, while live product demonstrations will offer further opportunities to see equipment and technologies in action.

The event’s conference programme begins on Tuesday 22 September with Aquaculture – Driving Sustainable Growth. Chaired by Ólöf Helga Jónsdóttir, CPO at Kaldvik, the one-day conference will address the policy, partnerships, technologies and investment needed to support a resilient and sustainable aquaculture sector.

Sessions will cover blue-food policy and market access, seafood traceability, fish welfare, feeds, RAS and the role of data, AI and connected systems in aquaculture operations. Delegates will hear practical perspectives on improving feeding, oxygen control, energy efficiency and biological-risk management, as well as the infrastructure needed to enable responsible sector growth. Confirmed contributors include representatives from MAST – Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority, Iceland Ocean Cluster, Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability, IFFO, Baader, Oxyguard, EquaFish, Avascope and AquaBioTech Group.

On Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 September, the 100% Fish for Profit conference will focus on unlocking the full value of seafood resources. The programme will explore how advanced processing, cold-chain solutions, AI, automation and smart manufacturing can help companies improve yield, quality, traceability and profitability.

Delegates will hear case studies from businesses and regions implementing full-utilisation strategies, including the Great Lakes’ 100% Fish Cluster, and explore the growing potential of marine bioproducts for markets such as nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, animal nutrition and biomaterials. The programme will also introduce new ventures and business models helping drive full utilisation across the seafood sector.
