FISHERIES RESEARCH AND INNOVATION CENTRE SET-UP IN ICELAND
Fisheries research and innovation centre set-up in Iceland. Icelandic seafood company Brim and the Municipal Council of Akranes, home of fish processing machinery company Skaginn 3X’s headquarters, have joined forces to establish a research and innovation centre in the region.
The project has been ongoing for almost a year and is set to bring new employment opportunities to Akranes, as well as establish a new residential area.
An attractive and vibrant working space will be set up, where locals can come and work remotely from, full or part-time.
The aim of the project is to create an environment where knowledge and ideas related to technology, public health and the environment will contribute to cutting-edge research and innovation that will solve various challenges and problems the world is currently facing.
In addition to Brim and the Municipal Council of Akranes, several other companies and institutions have signed a letter of intent to help establish the fisheries research and innovation centre, Skaginn 3X being one of them.
Great emphasis with be placed on the development of advanced technology in various fields, including research, fisheries, smart technologies, agriculture and energy intensive industries.
Forged in Iceland, shaped by the seafood industry, Skaginn 3X is an innovative producer of high-tech processing systems for the global food processing industry.
