INNOVASEA ESTABLISHES OFFICE IN CHILE

Innovasea, a global leader in technologically advanced aquatic solutions for aquaculture and fish tracking, has announced it has established an office in Chile to directly deliver its sophisticated tools and technologies to the nation’s hundreds of active fish farms.
“Chile is a major aquaculture producer and having a physical presence there will make it easier for Innovasea to offer up our industry-leading aquaculture solutions to the many fish farms in the country,” said Innovasea CEO David Kelly.
Fish farming is a multi-billion dollar business in Chile, with more than 300 farms in operation at any given time. It ranks fourth in the world in marine-based finfish cultivation, producing 867,000 metric tons of farm-raised finfish in 2018 according to data from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.
The country is second only to Norway in terms of farmed salmon production.
Innovasea’s Chilean operation will be located in Puerto Varas and headed by Juan Pablo Barrales, who has more than 20 years of experience working in Chile’s aquaculture industry and holds an aquaculture engineering degree from Universidad Andres Bello.
“Innovasea’s sophisticated solutions will greatly improve how fish farms operate in Chile,” said Barrales, managing director of Innovasea in Chile. “Not only will that boost productivity and profitability, but it will also help the industry lessen its environmental impacts and make it more sustainable.”
