KNIGHTS AT THE READY FOR NATIONAL FISH AND CHIP DAY

KNIGHTS AT THE READY

Knights at the ready for National Fish and Chip Day. Knights Fish Restaurant in Glastonbury, is a family run, award winning fish restaurant with a proud heritage dating back over 100 years and is looking forward to National Fish and Chip Day coinciding this year with the 80th anniversary celebrations of D-Day.

National Fish and Chip Day has traditionally been celebrated on the first Friday in June but has been moved to today (Thursday 6th June), to celebrate the anniversary of D-Day and the role that fish and chips played as a moral booster (and a non-rationed food), during the war years.

Earlier this year Knights Fish Restaurant won the highly coveted ‘Restaurant of the Year’ (2024) title at the National Fish and Chip Awards, run by the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF).

As part of this accolade, husband and wife team Kevin and Charlotte Mitchell, won a fantastic trip from Seafood from Iceland, to visit the island and see first-hand the source of their cod supply.in Iceland

Kevin and Charlotte had a tour around one of the ships, Brim Seafood’s  freezer trawler ‘Vigri,’ that catches their cod in the pristine cold waters around Iceland and freezes the catch at sea, locking in its freshness as it is processed and frozen in around 60 minutes from harvest.

Charlotte told Fish Focus:

“I cannot wait to tell my customers that I have been on one of the vessels which catches and processes the beautiful cod that we serve to our customers. This trip to Iceland has given me a great insight into the excellent quality and sustainability of our cod” she added.

Kevin and Charlotte are immensely proud of Knights Fish Restaurant, its heritage and their commitment to meeting the highest standards in all aspects of the business. Under their watchful eye, the premises has undergone substantial upgrading with a very tasteful décor refurbishment and new kitchen facilities with the latest equipment.

Kevin told Fish Focus:

“Knights Fish Restaurant prides itself on its commitment to quality, sourcing the freshest fish and finest ingredients to ensure that every meal served is of the highest standard. The fish is hand-battered in a crisp, golden coating, and cooked to perfection.”

Renowned for their excellent food and charming setting, Knights Fish Restaurant is conveniently situated near some of Glastonbury’s most famous landmarks, including the Glastonbury Abbey and the Glastonbury Tor. This makes it a perfect stop for locals and tourists alike looking to explore the town’s historic sites while indulging in a quintessentially British dining experience.
