NEW PRESIDENT FOR FEDERATION OF EUROPEAN AQUACULTURE PRODUCERS

New President for Federation of European Aquaculture Producers. The Federation of European Aquaculture Producers (FEAP) held last week its General Assembly. In it, elections were held to decide the replacement of part of its Management Committee that had completed their terms. As a result, Mrs Lara Barazi-Yeroulanos was elected new President of the federation for the next three years.
Mrs Barazi-Yeroulanos had been proposed for this position by the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO). She is Chief Executive Officer and President of the Board of the fish farming company Kefalonia Fisheries SA. (Kefalonia, Greece).
Mrs BaraziYeroulanos holds a Master degree in Public Policy & International Trade and Finance from the Kennedy School of Government/Harvard University (USA) and a B.A. in Economics at Columbia Univ. (USA). She has been Vice-president in FEAP since 2018.
A FEAP statement said: “The federation members are convinced that the unique skills and leadership capabilities of Lara Barazi will contribute to further promote aquaculture in Europe. Her substantive governance experience and proven track record in pursuing sustainable aquaculture in the Mediterranean were highlighted.”
Mrs Lara Barazi-Yeroulanos will be the first woman to lead the FEAP. In her acceptance speech Mrs Barazi-Yeroulanos statedthat as FEAP President she will strive to relaunch aquaculture and unfold its full potential. She will dedicate special efforts to enhance the working capacity of the FEAP to support the strategic ambitions of the industry and overcome the complex challenges that have kept European aquaculture stagnant for the last 20 years.
The other persons that were elected yesterday for the Management Committee of the FEAP were Mrs Anna Pýc (Poland), Mr Goran Markúlin (Croatia), Mr Brian Thomsen (Denmark) and Mr Jordi Trías (Spain).
