NEW STATE OF THE ART WELL BOAT ORDERED

New state of the art well boat ordered by Aquaship / Intership. Aquaship / Intership has contracted a new battery-hybrid well boat, with high-tech solutions to cut emissions and ensure effective and gentle fish management.

“This boat will be a fantastic addition to what is already one of the world’s most modern fleets,” says Ole Peter Brandal, managing director of Aquaship / Intership.

Aquaship / Intership has 700 employees, with operations in Chile, Scotland, Ireland, Canada and Norway. The company has headquarters in Kristiansund and in Hareid.

The new well boat, which is 4000 m3, will be the 41st. the boat for the company. The well boat becomes a battery-hybrid, with a significant battery pack, and is equipped with a specially designed reverse osmosis system.

“We see and hear what customers need, and bet on boats that cover both today’s and tomorrow’s needs. New and increasing demands are being set for fish health, fish welfare, environmental and climate emissions. I am proud that we invest in the best well boats on the market, which deliver on it,” says Brandal.

The boat is designed by Norwegian Salt Ship Design and is being built at the Spanish shipyard Zamakona in Bilbao, which has delivered two well boats to Intership / Aquaship earlier. MIL Shipping has been facilitating the contraction.

“It requires a lot of knowledge and experience to build state-of-the-art well boats. We work with players we know well, and who we know deliver the best technology available to the farming industry on the market. There will also be a large feature of Norwegian equipment,” Brandal says.

Aquaship / Intership has, for many years, led the development of freshwater treatment of lice and AGD (amoebus infection disease) using reverse osmosis (RO). The company has gained extensive operational experience in freshwater production and freshwater treatment. The new boat will have a large reverse osmosis plant with a production capacity of 10,000 m3/day, as well as be prepared for combination processing.

“With this plant, we can fill the boat with self-produced fresh water in half a day. The treatment gives a very good score on all welfare indicators and the fish absorbs food immediately after treatment. This brings benefits economically, for fish welfare and for the environment, says Brandal.

The battery-hybrid technology ensures optimal energy efficiency and significantly reduces the environmental footprint.

“These are important progress and investments to be made now. If we are to provide the best possible services to our customers for many years to come, we must cut emissions faster and better,” says Brandal.

“The new well boat is the first to be contracted in the industry since the company last contracted two boats in 2022. Recently it became known that Aquaship / Intership is buying another top modern well boat, “Bjørg Pauline”, from Nordlaks. This comes after Aquaship / Intership merged in December, bringing in American Industrial Partners (AIP) as the largest owner.

“We have a clear growth strategy in Norway and internationally. For us, it is both necessary and important to invest on, in order to deliver what the market needs in the future. We are now addicted to investing in the best boats and the latest technology. We are very happy to have owners who make it possible,” says Brandal.
