SEAFOOD CARBON EMISSIONS PROFILING TOOL SHORTLISTED FOR NASF 2026 SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

SEAFOOD CARBON EMISSIONS PROFILING TOOL SHORTLISTED

Seafood Carbon Emissions Profiling Tool shortlisted for NASF 2026 Sustainability Award. Pioneering tool recognised among top three initiatives.

The Seafood Carbon Emissions Profiling Tool (SCEPT), developed by Seafish, has been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the NASF 2026 Sustainability Award.

The award recognises the important work carried out by seafood companies and highlights the vital role sustainability plays across the industry.

The SCEPT has been named among three finalists alongside the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Veramaris. Developed by Seafish, the public body that supports the UK seafood industry, the SCEPT was designed to support seafood businesses measure, understand and seek to reduce their carbon footprint.

Dr Stuart McLanaghan, Head of Responsible Sourcing at Seafish, said:

“We are incredibly proud that the SCEPT has been shortlisted for this year’s inaugural NASF 2026 Sustainability Award.

“By providing seafood businesses with insights into emission risks, or hot-spots, across their supply chains, the tool plays an important role in helping industry take informed steps towards a more sustainable future.

“SCEPT’s development, and the parallel exceptional degree of pre-competitive collaboration across the seafood sector, exemplifies what the NASF Sustainability Award seeks to champion: leadership, innovation and long-term strategic vision. Additionally, the SCEPT provides scalability and real-world impact.

“By removing barriers to credible carbon measurement and catalysing sector-wide action, it is transforming how the UK seafood sector, and beyond, both understands and can reduce its climate impact – helping to create a more transparent, sustainable and climate-smart global seafood system.”

The jury commended the high calibre of all submissions, showcasing the significant work being carried out across the seafood industry.

The NASF 2026 Sustainability Award winner will be announced at the NASF Sustainability Summit in Bergen on Wednesday, March 3.
