THE 14TH ICELANDIC FISHERIES, SEAFOOD & AQUA EXHIBITION (ICEFISH)

The 14th Icelandic Fisheries, Seafood & Aqua Exhibition (IceFish). From sea to plate – the 100% fish event.
A message from Marianne Rasmussen-Coulling, Events Director, Icelandic Fisheries Seafood & Aqua Exhibition in regard to the volcanic eruptions near the town of Grindavík, Iceland:
“With our already longstanding relationship with Grindavik Icelandic College of Fisheries, providing financial support for students furthering their education, I am extremely thrilled to announce that the whole town of Grindavik will be bringing the community together on the C22 group stand at Icefish.
“The continuous volcanic eruptions have forced businesses and residents of this fishing town to move away and start rebuilding their lives in new neighbouring locations. I can’t start to imagine how challenging this has been/and still very much is for everyone. My small way of trying to help was to create one focal meeting point for Grindavik by providing them complimentary stand space at the Icelandic Fisheries show.
“The joint discussions started to take shape during one of my recent trips to Iceland and it is with great pleasure I can now confirm it will be going ahead.”
Visitors and exhibitors will be able to meet the Grindavik community on stand C22 at Icefish, September 18-20, in Fifan, Kópavogur. Exhibiting companies include Jón og Margeir, Vélsmiðjan Grindavík, TG Raf, Skiparadio, Mustadautoline ehf., Veiðafæraþjónustan ehf, Hringrás, Klafar and Grindavíkurhöfn.
Sigurður A Kristmundsson, the group organiser of the Grindavik community stand commented:
“The community in Grindavík will never be the same after the continuous volcanic eruptions. However, the fishing industry in Grindavik is trying its best to adapt to the greatest challenges it has ever faced. I am pleased that the Icelandic Fisheries, Seafood & Aqua exhibition has provided support to the fishing town of Grindavik in such a tough time. We look forward to sharing our experience at Icefish, and this event will bring a sense of solidarity and strength to our community as we navigate these challenges together.”
