WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE FOODSERVICE COOL!
We need your help to make foodservice CoOL! The message from the Australian Seafood Industry. It’s no secret the Australian seafood industry is having a rough time of it lately due to drought, fires, floods, and now the coronavirus closing down the primary export and foodservice markets. Close to 70% of seafood eaten in Australia is imported, and due to the exclusion of country of origin labelling laws from seafood sold in food service – places like restaurants, cafes, pubs – most people don’t realise their iconic seafood meals aren’t made using iconic Australian seafood.
After much lobbying the government is holding an online review survey of the current Country of Origin Labelling (CoOL) legislation and have included a question on whether they should expand labelling to cover seafood sold in foodservice. The Australian Seafood Industry knows people want to eat Australian seafood and support Australian producers, but they can’t if they can’t find it! They need as many people as possible to take the survey and express their support for this expansion in Question 4. So please, share this with your friends, family, staff, next door neighbour…
The CoOL survey can be found here and is open for comment until September 11.
