Aalborg: The Global Meeting Place for the Blue Sector

For the 29th time, DanFish International is bringing together the global frontrunners of the fishing industry in Aalborg. From 7–9 October 2025, the city will host more than 400 exhibitors from 30 countries and welcome 12,000–15,000 visitors from 50 nations for three days of innovation, networking, and sustainable solutions.

With the fair now officially open, Aalborg once again takes centre stage as the global hub of the blue sector — where tradition meets innovation, and where the future of sustainable fishing is shaped.

A Platform for a Changing Industry

In his opening speech, Nicolaj Holm, CEO of Aalborg Congress & Culture Center (AKKC), set the tone for this year’s event:

“The fishing industry is facing major challenges. There are ongoing discussions about sustainability, the marine environment, fisheries management and new political measures that shape the industry’s future. That’s why DanFish is more relevant than ever,” he said.

Alongside DanFish, both the DanAqua aquaculture exhibition and the NordicRAS Conference return as part of the 2025 programme. Meanwhile, Danish Maritime is hosting a conference focusing on green propulsion and future technologies, underlining the event’s strong sustainability focus.

Visitors can also explore the brand-new Greenland Pavilion in Hall F — a space where fishing and culture meet through tastings, storytelling and interactive experiences.

A Key Part of Aalborg’s Identity

Aalborg’s mayor, Lasse Frimand Jensen, welcomed international guests and highlighted the city’s deep connection to the event:

“DanFish is part of Aalborg’s history and DNA. Once, our harbour was a closed industrial area. Today, it’s a vibrant urban space that reflects the transformation we’ve undergone. We want to attract the world to Aalborg and send Aalborg out into the world — and that’s exactly what DanFish International does.”

Celebrating 50 Years of Innovation and Partnership

Marking half a century since its debut in 1974, DanFish International continues to serve as a vital platform for collaboration and progress in the blue sector.

Sebastian Schwarz, CEO of the Danish Export Association, reflected on the fair’s enduring legacy:

“For 50 years, DanFish has connected fishermen and suppliers across borders. It’s not just about buying and selling — it’s about building partnerships that drive innovation and support the green transition. That’s why DanFish International remains the place to be.”
