BLUMAR SEAFOODS REDUCES ODOUR EMISSIONS

Blumar Seafoods reduces odour emissions. An important step in sustainability has been taken by Blumar Seafoods by incorporating state-of-the-art technology in the facilities of its plant located in the district of Coronel, Chile. This innovation enables reduction in odour emissions by up to four times.
It involves the incorporation of devices developed by the company that, through gas absorption, neutralisation and oxidation systems, allow a significant reduction in the levels of odour generated in the fishmeal and fish oil production process.
The initiative, which is part of a global company programme with an investment of USD 1,500,000, allows for more modern and environmentally friendly facilities, as well as responding to the needs of the communities.
The manager of Fishing Operations, José Ocares, said:
“This project is a clear response from our company to the conversations we have had both with the communities and with the municipality, and demonstrates our determined commitment to continue being a responsible and dialoguing neighbour ”.
And he added:
“Thanks to this initiative, we are going to significantly reduce the generation of odours from the production process, which will directly benefit our neighbours. It is a project that involves us all: our collaborators, the artisanal fishermen and the strategic management of Blumar”.
