JOHNSTON CARMICHAEL GOES THE EXTRA MILE FOR CHARITY

Johnston Carmichael goes the extra mile for charity.  Accountants and business advisory firm, Johnston Carmichael, has raised over £2,000 for Scottish charities after taking part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk. The firm has a dedicated Fishing team in Aberdeen and Fraserburgh and over 100 years’ experience of advising the commercial fishing industry,

A team of 16 staff members from the firm’s Glasgow and Edinburgh offices pulled on their walking boots, taking on the five-mile Wee Wander and the 23-mile Mighty Stride. Walking from Glasgow Green to Balloch, the team chose to take part in aid of Calum’s Cabin, the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Maggie’s and Scottish Network for Arthritis in Children (SNAC), raising a total of £2,080.

Amongst the team was John MacLean from the JC Wealth team, who has vowed to take on all four walks this year along with his daughter, to celebrate her 30th birthday. The duo will be raising vital funds for Maggie’s cancer charity.

Johnston Carmichael has 11 offices across Scotland. It’s a gold sponsor of the Kiltwalk and teams from across the firm have been in training for months in preparation for their nearest event. Each office will be raising money for different causes throughout the country.

Thanks to backing from Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation, an extra 40p will be added to every £1 raised by each and every walker, massively boosting the funds that will go to charities.

Mark Houston, managing partner at Johnston Carmichael’s Glasgow office said: “I couldn’t be more proud of the team for donning their tartan and hitting the roads of Glasgow again this year.

“Johnston Carmichael have been backing the Kiltwalk for a number of years now. It’s such a fantastic way to raise money for the charities that are close to your heart and with the added 40% from The Hunter Foundation, every pound and penny goes to your chosen charity.”

Paul Cooney, CEO of Kiltwalk said: “I’d like to thank the Johnston Carmichael team for their continued support. Thanks to all of our generous sponsors, the Kiltwalk has been able to grow each year, with Glasgow 2019 being our biggest ever event.

“We are very much looking forward to our next three events in Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh later this year – there’s still time to sign up!”
