Offshore Shellfish Limited Welcomes Piers Mudd as Head of Strategy

Offshore Shellfish Limited, a leading producer of offshore rope grown mussels, is pleased to announce the appointment of Piers Mudd as Head of Strategy. A seasoned executive with extensive leadership experience in sustainable aquaculture, Piers will play a pivotal role in positioning the company for its next phase of growth and development.

In his new role, Piers will spearhead a strategic fundraise to fuel Offshore Shellfish’s ambitious expansion plans. With a proven track record in enhancing business operations and management systems, he will also oversee improvements to ensure the company remains at the forefront of sustainable aquaculture.

Piers brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished career, including his most recent role as Chief Operating Officer at Brilliant Planet, where he managed the strategic and operational development of a pioneering ocean-based carbon removal enterprise. At Brilliant Planet, he successfully drove the transition from research-focused operations to commercial scalability, secured key partnerships with industry leaders, and led high-value projects to enhance production.

Previously, Piers served as the Founding CEO of FirstWave Group’s East Africa Tilapia venture Yalelo Uganda, where he built Africa’s fastest-growing aquaculture business. Under his leadership, Yalelo Uganda established state-of-the-art aquaculture facilities, growing from a greenfield site to 700 tons of monthly production in three years, and transformed the way consumers accessed sustainably farmed fish across East Africa.
