Nurturing the next generation: Fully funded future seafood leaders programme returns to Scotland. The UK Seafood Federation (UKSF) has announced the return of its highly successful Future Seafood Leaders Programme Scotland – a fully funded initiative designed to support ambitious professionals across the seafood sector, delivered in partnership with the University of Lincoln and the Seafish Industry Authority.

Over the past two years, participants from UKSF’s Scottish membership have already benefited immensely from the programme, with more than 100 aspiring leaders having advanced their careers through this unique development opportunity. Open to those working in production, technical and commercial roles who have leadership aspirations, this year’s course promises to equip candidates with the skills, knowledge and confidence to drive their businesses and the wider industry forward.

Comprehensive Industry-Focused Curriculum

Spread across six days and delivered in Peterhead, the programme covers every critical area of modern seafood operations and leadership:

  • Day 1 (18 August 2026): Continuous Improvement – exploring problem-solving, automation, digitalisation, artificial intelligence and green technologies shaping the sector.
  • Day 2 (19 August 2026): Factory Processing – reviewing equipment, operational best practice and strategies for effective cost control.
  • Day 3 (20 August 2026): Effective Leadership – developing skills to build high-performing teams and deliver clear, impactful communication both internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Day 4 (8 September 2026): Raw Materials – examining sustainable sourcing, supply chain resilience and horizon scanning for emerging trends.
  • Day 5 (9 September 2026): Quality Assurance – learning how to assess and maintain fish quality, including hands-on practical assessment work.
  • Day 6 (10 September 2026): Final Assessment – candidates present a 10-minute presentation demonstrating their learning and insight.
