The total Icelandic fish catch in April 2022 was 111 thousand tonnes according to preliminary data, which is a 4 thousand tonnes decrease compared to April 2021. Demersal catch was 45 thousand tonnes and pelagic catch was 63 thousand tonnes.
In the 12 month period from May 2021 to April 2022 the total catch was about 1,480 thousand tonnes which is 34% more than in the same period one year earlier. Pelagic catch was just over one million tonnes and demersal catch was just under 450 thousand tonnes.
Fixed price calculations are postponed due to lack of data on the quantity and value of capelin roe, which may have significant effects on the outcome.
Information about catch of fish which are published in this press release are preliminary figures. The data is gathered by the Directorate of Fisheries.
