AKVA GROUP INVESTS IN DEEP FARMING
AKVA group invests in deep farming. AKVA group and Framo Aquaculture intend to make aquaculture more sustainable with deep farming.
AKVA group is investing heavily in deep farming, and believes that this can contribute to solving one of the biggest sustainability challenges in aquaculture: salmon lice. By lowering the net into the depth where the lice do not thrive, the salmon is separated from the lice.
The solution has become increasingly complete, but there is still a need to optimise collection technology and pumping solutions for dead fish. That is why AKVA group has now entered into a collaboration with Framo Aquaculture, who are experts in this.
Through the new collaboration, the two companies agree to work together to develop and deliver deep farming solutions to the fish farming industry in Norway and internationally. AKVA group will supply nets, air domes, floating collars and other technology that is needed in deep farming solutions, while Framo Aquaculture will supply ‘LiftUp’ collection technology and pump solutions that transport dead fish from the bottom of the net up to the dewatering and receiving tank on the surface, on board a fleet or on land. The purpose is to offer the aquaculture industry a complete and safe offer for deep farming.
“We have great faith in deep farming, and through collaboration with Framo Aquaculture, an important piece falls into place. Now we will be able to offer our customers a sustainable total solution,” says Merete Gisvold Sandberg, Global Solution Manager at AKVA group.
“We also see great opportunities within deep farming. For Framo Aquaculture, the collaboration means that we get access to deliver our exciting and sustainable LiftUp products to a global market, says Jarle Ragnhildstveit, Product Developer at Framo Aquaculture.
AKVA group is the world’s largest supplier of solutions and services to the farming industry with offices in 11 countries. The company supplies everything from pens, feeding systems, boats and land-based facilities to computer programs for monitoring production.
