Nueva Pescanova makes solar power moves. The Nueva Pescanova Group, in line with its commitment to responsible management of resources, is moving towards the energy transition of resources by incorporating photovoltaic solar energy in its factories in different countries of the world.

Thus, at the Lüderitz plant in Namibia (the largest hake processor in Africa, belonging to its NovaNam subsidiary), a 3,132-square-metre photovoltaic solar park has been installed. This facility will be expanded in early 2020 to 13,500 square metres, which will allow the generation of approximately 317,000 kilowatts per month and will result in energy savings of up to 30%.

Ignacio González, CEO of the Nueva Pescanova Group, said: “The commissioning of the first installation of a photovoltaic solar park in our factories is a milestone for the company: it represents our commitment to reduce environmental impacts and seek new sources of energy sustainable and non-polluting. ”

In 2020, the Nueva Pescanova Group plans to complete the installation of solar parks in seven of its factories around the world, with the aim of being able to take advantage of large roof areas to reduce CO2 emissions. The photovoltaic plants of Arteixo (A Coruña), Chapela and Porriño (Pontevedra) will start operating in the first quarter of the year.
