RUSSIAN CRAB SIGNS CONTRACTS FOR CRAB CATCHING VESSELS CONSTRUCTION
Russian Crab signs contracts for crab catching vessels construction. The “Russian Crab” group of companies has signed contracts with the Onego Shipyard (Petrozavodsk, Russia) and the Okskaya shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod Region, Russia) for the construction of crab catching vessels.
In accordance with the contracts 10 vessels of two types will be built from 2020 to 2024 for the “Russian Crab” Group: seven for catching and transporting live crab (livestock carriers) and three crab-processor equipped with a processing factory for the production of raw-frozen and boiled-frozen crab products. Livestock carriers will be built at the Onego Shipyard, processors at the Okskaya shipyard. The estimated cost of building a vessel is approximately 1.5 billion rubles. All vessels will be built according to the project of the DAMEN shipbuilding group.
The project is being implemented in accordance with the terms of the auctions on securing and providing a share of quotas, at which Russian Crab Group acquired 10 lots for the commercial crab catching.
“The company plans to build larger vessels than the basic conditions of the auction require,” commented Dmitry Trubnikov, the “Russian Crab” Group CEO. – These will be more effective and productive vessels that meet all modern requirements for crab catching. This approach will increase the autonomy of vessels and the volume of transported products, significantly improve product quality and, which is important for the company, will improve living conditions and crew safety. ”
The new vessels of both types will have a length of more than 57 and a width of about 13 meters, which will allow placing from 20 to 32 crewmembers on board.
The vessels will be equipped with twice as many traps to guarantee maximum catch and full loading of the hold, modern engines with low fuel consumption and low toxicity of exhaust gases, a backup electric propulsion system in case of an unplanned stop of the main engine. Equipping the processors with modern processing plants will make it possible to produce up to 15 tons of finished products per day.
Living and working conditions for crewmembers will be provided in accordance with advanced world standards.
Innovative solutions for the Russian crab industry will be applied. Including: an automatic system for regulating the temperature and composition of water in the live tanks, a water exchange system that will allow to completely renew the water in the tanks in the event of contamination, as well as solutions to maintain high product quality when unloading large volumes of crab in adverse weather conditions (low or high temperature).
“Russian Crab” Group was established in 2018 in Vladivostok by Gleb Frank. In 2019, during the auctions on securing and providing a share of quotas for the commercial crab catching, the company acquired 10 lots. The current volume of quotas is more than 10 thousand tons. The company’s own fleet is 12 vessels.
