DANISH-NORWEGIAN COLLABORATIONS IN FOCUS AT NOR-FISHING

Danish-Norwegian collaborations in focus at Nor-Fishing. For Danish suppliers to the fishing industry, Norway is an important export market. Many Danish companies already have strong Norwegian collaborations and come to Nor-Fishing to expand their activities in the neighbouring country.
Historical ties and geographical proximity make Denmark and Norway close trading partners. In the fishing industry, Norway is an important market for Danish suppliers, and therefore Nor-Fishing is also one of the important events of the year, when Danish Export – Fish Tech together with 45 Danish exhibitors will go to Trondheim with the Pavilion of Denmark in August.
“We have strong competencies in equipment for the fishing industry, and the Danish suppliers are top-class in terms of quality, service and innovative solutions. There is global demand, but traditionally Norway is an important market for us, and therefore I am pleased that we can once again participate in Nor-Fishing with such a large group of Danish companies,” says Martin Winkel Lilleøre, Head of Fish Tech at the Danish Export Association, who is organising the Danish joint stand.
Daniamant – debutant with new Norwegian portfolio
Trade fairs are opportunities to meet new partners and customers in new markets, and a Danish debutant at Nor-Fishing is Daniamant, who produce a wide range of safety solutions and navigation equipment for the maritime sector. Daniamant supplies a wide range of safety lights, and this part of the business as well as the company’s presence in Norway has recently been strengthened through the acquisition of the entire lighting portfolio from Norwegian Jotron AS.
The products are developed for marking for instance nets and longline fishing gear, buoys, seismic cables, anchor chains and moorings, aquaculture farms, oil cables and offshore installations. The ML Series, as it’s called, has a modular design, which makes these marker lights user-friendly during any service and repair.
“With a large industry in fishing, offshore and aquaculture, Norway is an important market for us, and with the acquisition of the product portfolio from Jotron AS, we are strengthened in the Norwegian market. We have taken over a strong brand, and we look forward to being able to continue Jotron’s strong service and delivery of high-quality products to existing and new customers,” says Kevin Rough, CEO at Daniamant
Carsoe – reliable equipment and better working environment on board
Manufacturers of process equipment are an important supplier group to the fishing industry, and among the exhibitors at Nor-Fishing we find Carsoe, who supplies process equipment and complete production lines for fishing vessels. For the Carsoe, Norway is an important market, and one of the factors that has ensured the company’s global success is a strong focus on service and maintenance.
“For us, it is important that our customers can experience reliability for many years. In general, we find that Danish companies are good at delivering solutions that last and are also good at delivering the service needed to ensure stable operations over a long period of time. This means that breakdowns are avoided and that the total cost of ownership is much lower for the customer,” says Anders Kirkebak Poulsen at Carsoe.
In addition to reliable solutions, Carsoe also focuses on how innovation can improve processes and ensure a better working environment. This is done, among other things, through a completely new production line for crab cooking on board. In the spring, Carsoe delivered a complete factory to Ervik Havfiske’s newest vessel, Frøyanes. The factory is divided into two parts, with a crab line and a shrimp line, so that the ship’s capacity can be used for more quotas.
The steam from crab cooking can cause respiratory infections in factory workers, and on a closed, compact factory deck, this is especially important to reduce this steam. With the new cooking and cooling method, the steam in the factory deck is reduced significantly. This helps to ensure a much better working environment for the workers on board.
RG Rom Gummi – Norwegian expansion optimises production
Like Daniamant, RG Rom Gummi has also expanded their business, partnering with a Norwegian company. The manufacturer of technical solutions in rubber, plastic and foam has taken over their Norwegian counterpart Rub-Tech AS. This has paid off in the form of increased production capacity and a strengthened presence in the Norwegian market.
Most importantly, it has resulted in Rub-Tech being able to keep up with the high demand for their specialised rubber solutions for the fishing industry, as they can now draw on both production facilities in Denmark and Norway. This places Rub-Tech and RG Rom Gummi even stronger as a supplier to the Norwegian fishing industry and have become one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of rubber solutions for the industry.
“We have prepared Rub-Tech for high activity, as we now have both the capacity and the competencies to serve several industries in the Norwegian market. We have ambitious growth plans for Rub-Tech, and with the positive development we have already seen, I am convinced that our plans will become reality,” says CEO of RG Rom Gummi, Jesper Berg Kristensen.
