REVO FOODS RELEASES 3 NEW VEGAN SEAFOOD PRODUCTS

REVO FOODS RELEASES

Revo Foods releases 3 new vegan seafood products, including world´s first salmon spread and gravlax. The Austrian food-tech start-up Revo Foods releases 3 new seafood alternatives under its Revo brand, starting from 12th of September: Graved Salmon, Salmon Spread and Tuna Spread. The Graved Salmon and Salmon Spread are unique new products which did not exist in the plant-based area before. The new products will launch first with Austrian supermarkets, and will also be available soon in Germany, Denmark and the UK. Since the first product release of the “Revo Salmon” in November 2021, the start-up expanded to 18 European countries and became a leader in the plant-based seafood industry. From Mid-September, the Revo Products will furthermore be listed nationwide across Germany at the REWE supermarket chain, adding 1000 new locations to the existing distribution network.

New innovation in the plant-based seafood category

The plant-based tuna spread is the first product which was developed with Revo Foods proprietary “Fibre Dispension Technology”. Fibre Dispension enables the combination of plant-based proteins into individual fibre strands, which creates a bite and mouthfeel which is almost identical compared with conventional tuna. The fibre dispension technology will also be used for more ultra-realistic seafood alternatives in the future.

“With the release of these 3 unique products, we reached a new milestone in the dynamic market of plant-based seafood alternatives. Not only are we the first company in the world to release a plant-based alternative to graved salmon and salmon spread, but with our more than 2500 selling points all across Europe, we are having a real impact on sustainable seafood products.”

Omega-3 and Proteins – New benchmarks for the nutritional value of vegan seafood

A milestone was reached with the nutritional values of the new products, which all have a high protein and Omega-3 fatty acid content. Thanks to microalgae oils, high quality Omega-3 fatty acids are added in the form of the healthy EPA and DHA fatty acids. Recently, a study performed by an independent food analysis lab showed that conventional seafood contains high amounts of toxic mercury, PCBs and dioxins, while these substances were not present in the products of Revo Foods. This is a clear advantage for the plant-based seafood alternatives.

The Start-up

Revo Foods (based in Vienna, Austria) develops new plant-based seafood alternatives with new process technology, including ‘Fibre Dispension Technology’ and 3D Food Printing. Revo Foods products are already being sold in 18 countries across Europe at more than 2500 locations. The 3 new products will soon be available in Germany, Denmark and the UK as well. Recently, the start-up received an additional 2.5 Mill EUR funding from European grants to develop new fibre creation technologies for the production of plant-based seafood. Still this year, the start-up plans to launch its products for the first time in the USA.
